About the game
What is Carla's Compass: Merge Legacy?
Carla's Compass: Merge Legacy is a story-rich merge game. Carla's father is taken, leaving her a compass and a trail of clues he meant only for her. The trail leads out of her little Berlin cinema and across 1950s Europe, and you follow it by merging items on a board. Animated scenes carry the story between rounds.
What is a merge game?
You drag matching items together to combine them into a single better one, then merge those results again to work up the chain. In Carla's Compass, merging fills orders, clears the board and moves the story on.
How much does Carla's Compass cost?
The game is free to play. There are optional in-app purchases: coins, gems and the VIP Pass are sold in the in-game shop.
Which platforms can I play on?
A web browser, iOS and Android. The browser version is in open beta at play.carlascompass.com and you can play it today. The iOS and Android builds are in closed testing and have no public store listing yet.
When does Carla's Compass come out?
Early 2027, on every platform. The browser version you can play today is a beta, so expect rough edges and changes before release.
Which languages does the game support?
English and German. You can change language in Settings, and this website is available in both.
Is there a real story, or is it just merging?
There is a full story, told in chapters. Animated scenes, character dialogue and small puzzle moments fire as you play, and the board keeps running underneath them. Once a chapter's story is finished you can keep playing its board whenever you like.
Playing the game
How do I merge items?
Drag one item onto a matching one. Three of a kind combine into the next item up the chain. Merging six or more at once also gives you a bonus item, so it is often worth waiting for a bigger group.
What are producers?
Producers are items you tap to get more items out of. Some run dry, and some need resources before they will work: merge the right resource item onto the producer to refuel it, then tap it once it has charged. Higher level resources refuel it faster.
My board is full. What can I do?
Drag items into your inventory to store them, and drag them back out when you need them. You can also sell or trash items you do not want, and completing orders clears items off the board. Extra inventory slots can be bought with gems.
What are the bubbles on the board?
An item inside a bubble cannot be used until the bubble is opened. Tap it to pop it.
Some tiles show a question mark. How do I reveal them?
Those tiles are still hidden. Clear the tiles around them and they will be revealed.
What are coins, gems, fossils and merit?
Coins are the everyday currency. Gems are the premium one, used for things like extra inventory slots. Fossils come from the Excavation event and count towards its rewards. Merit is experience: it raises your level, which unlocks features and paces the story.
What is Explore Mode?
Explore Mode lets you look around the scene behind your board. Tap the magnifying glass to enter it, then watch for alerts and tap them to collect hidden rewards. New things to find appear as you progress.
What are Collections and Recipes?
Every item you discover is catalogued in your Collection, and you earn a small reward for each new one plus a bonus for completing a set. Recipes record the combinations you have unlocked, so you can look up how something is made.
What are Challenges?
Daily and weekly tasks, such as merging a number of times or completing a number of orders. Finishing your daily tasks continues your streak, and longer streaks earn better rewards.
What events are there?
Two run alongside the main story, each on a board of its own. Catch of the Day is a fishing event: add bait to a rod to start fishing, and merge to upgrade both the rods and the bait. Excavation has you merging tools onto dirt tiles to dig for fossils. Both have leaderboards, and Excavation can be played as a group with friends.
What is the VIP Pass?
The VIP Pass unlocks the VIP reward on every level of the reward track, including levels you have already passed, along with exclusive cosmetics and bonuses. It does not expire.
How do I add friends?
Open the friends menu and share your invite link or your invite code, or enter a friend's code and tap Accept Invite. Friends show up in the leaderboards and can join your Excavation Group, where you can send each other a daily gift.
Account and progress
Do I need an account to play?
No. You can start playing straight away. Connecting an account saves your progress to the cloud, which is what lets you restore it on another device and the only way to be sure a save cannot be lost.
How do I connect an account?
Open Settings, then Account. In a browser you can connect with Facebook, on Android with Play Games, and on iOS with Game Center.
Can I move my progress to another device?
Within one platform, yes: a Play Games save follows you to another Android device, and a Game Center save to another Apple one. Facebook is currently the only login that carries a save across platforms. The Facebook Instant version does not sync with the others yet.
The game asked whether to keep the cloud save or this device. Which do I choose?
That prompt appears when your cloud save is newer than the progress on the device in your hand. The panel shows when each was last saved and the level each one reached. Choose the one you want to keep, because the other is overwritten.
What happens if I disconnect my account?
Disconnecting unlinks that device from your cloud save. The progress already on the device stays where it is, but it stops syncing until you connect again.
How do I delete my data?
Open Settings, then Privacy Settings, then Delete My Data. This removes everything permanently and cannot be undone.
I lost my progress.
If you had connected an account, sign in with the same login on the device and your cloud save should come back. If it does not, send us a message with your Player ID and we will look into it.
Purchases
How do I buy coins or gems?
Open the shop in the game. Payment is handled by your platform: the App Store on iOS, Google Play on Android, and our payment provider in the browser.
I paid but did not receive my items.
Restart the game first, because a purchase sometimes arrives on the next launch. If it still has not appeared, send us a message with your Player ID and your receipt or order number.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases made on iOS or Android are refunded by Apple or Google under their own rules, so those requests have to go through the store you bought from. For a purchase made in the browser version, send us a message.
What are my chances of getting a particular reward?
Every chest has its probabilities published. The reward probabilities page is generated from the same data the game rolls against, so it cannot drift from what you actually receive. Each pool is rolled the number of times shown above it, and every roll is independent of the last.

Where do I find my Player ID?
Open Settings, then Support. Your ID is shown there, and Copy ID to Clipboard copies it. Including it in a message is the fastest way for us to find your account.
The game will not load, or is stuck on the loading screen.
Close the game completely and open it again, and check your connection. In a browser, reload the page and try a private window in case an extension is interfering. If the game offers an update, install it before playing.
The game says Update Required, or Back Soon.
Update Required means a newer version is out and the old one has stopped working, so install the update. Back Soon means we have taken the game offline briefly for maintenance, and it will come back by itself.
Can I play offline?
Partly. If your connection drops while you are playing, you can carry on: your progress is saved on your device and syncs to the cloud once you are back online. A connection is needed to load the game and its content, and for everything online, which means cloud saves, leaderboards, events, friends and purchases.
I found a bug.
Please tell us. Send a message with your Player ID, the device and version you are playing on, and what you were doing when it happened. A screenshot helps a lot.
Still need help?
If none of the answers above solved it, send us a message and a person will read it.
